U.S. Department of Energy
FD Stonewater was awarded the development and ownership rights to this build-to-suit archival facility for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in Morgantown, WV. The facility offers 58,990 SF of office and storage space. The building is a state-of-the-art, NARA (National Archives and Records Administration) compliant facility that hosts both temperature and humidity-controlled environments for DOE records, including a sophisticated cold storage room that allows records to be maintained at near-freezing temperatures to avoid decay. Sustainable design was a major focus of this development and the project successfully achieved LEED Gold certifications for both Core & Shell and Commercial Interiors, making it the first “double gold” LEED building in the state of West Virginia.
